Took my 17 son To Taco Bell, $45 bill. Crazy, DD is addicted to Starbucks, kaching. I told her that her habit is about $1000 a year.
I stopped getting breakfast out myself, it use to be for money but now it’s on principle, breakfast $30 out? $4+ for coffee? |
| I still get Starbucks 2-3x a week because it brings me sugary joy when I work a 12 hour shift. But yes we’ve cut back on eating out. |
| Yes, absolutely. We go about once every 1.5 weeks, and I budget it into our monthly food bill. |
| No, and our Uber eats bill is insane. We have enough money though and I hate cooking. Honestly, I don’t even notice the spending, I’m just vaguely aware that it feels too high morally. |
| In some ways. I get fewer work lunches out. We do more takeout given kids and activity schedules. |
| I stopped getting my morning coffee out when it got over $5. We also seriously cut back on food delivery after we totaled up what we spent on it during 2023. Those end of the year summaries your credit card company sends you can be shocking if you really dig into them! |
| Yes, definitely. I eat almost entirely at home, but I do like to hit a local small business/restaurant once a week or so. I still get a little treat, and I'm happy to support my community businesses. |
| Yes, but not because of financial issues, more due to service and food quality issues. My 3 teens still uber eats and get fast food like it's going out of style. |
| Yes. And meal planning more carefully. This is so we can maintain a level of savings. I can't imagine how hard it is for people who need to do it to make it to the end of the month. Meaning, on a day when I'm just overwhelmed I can choose to, I can pay for the convenience. |

No because $4 for starbucks was just as bad as $5 for starbucks.
IDk what your $17 yo son ordered but $45 but a double stacked taco is $2, a soft taco is $1.79, a build you own craving box is $6. You should limit eating out for health reasons not for $$$ reasons. Starbucks should have always been a treat like getting ice cream. |
| Never was foolish enough to buy coffee every day. Used to love eating at restaurants but find that most places are serving mediocre food since the pandemic. They got used to all the community support during the pandemic and stopped trying (while also jacking up prices and expecting tips for counter service).very disappointing but better for my health, I guess. |
| Yes, prices have gone up more than my income. I just can’t justify $100 for dinner for a family of 4. Fast food is cheaper but so gross. I also can’t stand the tipping culture so we almost never do a sit down. If I order out I pick it up myself on the way home from work. |
| Yes, we get cheap take-out maybe once a month. |
And by that I mean we go to East Asian places that still provide good food for the money. We abandoned fast-food 6 months ago. |
|
Yes, we eat out less. When we go out I'm often disappointed because my cooking better and way cheaper.
We'll go to restaurants where we can't replicate the cuisine - e.g. Malaysian, Korean or Lebanese food. |
