I got an email that Wells Fargo is discontinuing my type (Crown) of checking account. Account is apparently changing to "Everyday Checking."
Looking into other checking account options - would love recs. We don't qualify for USAA unfortunately. |
TD's Beyond Checking has a ton of perks and is no fee if you keep $2500 in the account, or direct deposits over $5k/month. Pretty reasonable- similar accounts at bigger banks usually require $15k to waive the fee.
Might as well earn a nice bonus to open the account. https://checkingbonus.tdbank.com/digital500.html |
Capitol One 360. |
I got the notice, too. What's the disadvantage of the new kind of account? I thought I would just keep it. |
There is a fee. You can avoid the fee with direct deposit or maintaining a minimum balance amount. |
Fee? How about some interest. |
Ally if you don’t need a brick and mortar |
Checking accounts are expensive for banks. |
Besides the minimum balance requirement and the $10 fee, the interest rate earned for crown was minimal maybe a few cents during the period. My mortgage is carried by WF so for me it's convenience otherwise I'd explore options. I'd honestly direct deposit with my credit unions, Navy Federal. I'm locked in with such a great interest rate with WF, they know I'm not going anywhere lol. |
Using Wells Fargo in 2024 is absolutely wild |
They moved me to the prime account. There is a fee but its waived by the amount i have in my retirement. I dont anticipate any real changes. |
?????? Wtf? Throwing shade on banks? Thats a new low diss. |
+1. I was shocked they were still around after the fake accounts scandal. |
Ha I can't figure out if this is a joke. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/wells-fargo-scandals-the-complete-timeline-141213414.html |
They’re a good retail bank for most consumers. |
