The judge ruled that even if Baldoni persuaded a jury that everything he was saying in his complaint was true, he would still not have proven a claim for which he could recover damages. He had no legal basis for his claims. So this would be like instead of charging OJ with murder, the prosecutor tried to charge him with embezzling from the German Chancellor, and the judge was like "uh, what? get out of my court."

You can spam as much as you want until you're blue in the fact. Blake and Ryan can piss away another few million on bots and shills and planted puff pieces in whatever tabloid rags. And the end result is you will convince literally nobody that Blake and Ryan didn't cook up this hoax to smear this man. Sorry!

Uh almost no one actually believes this deranged theory that Blake and Ryan "cooked up a hoax" to smear Baldoni. Why? To "steal" the sequel from him? It makes no sense. In fact, it makes so little sense that Baldoni doesn't even allege this in his complaint that was just dismissed, because there is absolutely no evidence that it happened.

You will be shouting about this in your weird little corner of the internet while everyone else moves on with their lives unencumbered by silly conspiracy theories like this. Maybe join forces with the Pizzagate people if they are still kicking around, I feel like you guys would get along.

Dp. Are you denying that Reynolds was trying to get the rights to the second book last fall? It’s not even contested.

I don't know if that fear is merited, but I do think it will come down, in large part, to witness testimony, including testimony of other members of the cast and crew, Sony producers, and other witnesses to the events Lively alleges in her complaint.

And on that point, I will note that Liz Plank, who worked closely with Baldoni and Heath on their podcast for multiple years, today replied to a comment on her Instagram about today's dismissal with "lmfaooo." Plank may be a material witness in the case as it is suspected that she is the "mutual friend" who Lively texted during the early weeks of filming about Baldoni's and Heath's behavior and how she was going home crying at night because of it.

I think some JB supporters may be surprised when third parties who were there start to weigh in on what happened here.

Liz Plank wasn’t there.

She interacted with multiple parties during the time these events were going on. There's this very damning episode of the podcast where Baldoni spoke in vague terms about his experience with IEWU. He talks about how he was not happy with his own behavior and he had not been living up to his own ideals. He even mentions that his wife told him he should go back and read his own book. This was during the hiatus but I believe before the Jan. 4th meeting.

Plank may also have been on set some days. In the text I mentioned above, Lively says that she wanted to invite the "mutual friend" to the set but things were so unpleasant that she was glad she hadn't invited her on that particular day. She may have been there other days and she may also have information about Baldoni's state of mind toward Lively during the time when the alleged retaliation was taking place. She definitely interacted with Heath during this time, as she was recording podcast episodes with him. There is also a fascinating episode of the podcast from around the time the film came out where Heath and Plank talk about consent, and some of Heath's comments on that episode are really... interesting in light of this case. Including his comments on a story Liz tells about dating a guy who was physically violent with her and whether she had "consented" to that violence (she had not).

Plank may have been more "there" than you think.

I'm super interested in the podcast where he talks about IEWU. Surprised that's not quoted in any of Lively's papers.

Is t Liz Plank the one Ryan Reynolds started financing?

To answer my own question, yes, she shares a business address with VanZan, has known Reynolds longer than she has known Baldoni, and allegedly played a role in Blake being cast in the the movie.

Which one of those is "financing"?

You think she is separately pay for the same exact business address.

None of them. Plank's new podcast is being produced by Katie Couric's production company and has nothing to do with Reynolds. Plank registered her own production company at some point and because she shares a business agent with Reynolds, her company and VanZan have the same registered address. That's not as weird as people seem to think it is. Registered agents often have lots of companies registered to the same address, it's just an address to put on legal and tax paperwork when you form a company, it's not a real office.

Why would she spell it out in her complaint? Doesn't mean it won't come up in cross-examination of Baldoni or Heath. Those are public statements. And Liz could be used to get the transcript of the podcast entered as evidence, and to provide context as to Baldoni's statements and his demeanor when delivering them.

It's never been alleged, why would it be contested? It's an internet theory based on literally nothing. It's no different than the theories that Blake was in love with JB, or that they had an affair on set and Ryan went on a jealous rampage. It's just bored people cooking up theories based in nothing but supposition.

Show me the evidence it happened.

Liz launched a production company in November. People did some digging and the person that she launched with is Ryan Reynolds long time business partner, and the address of the production company is Ryan Reynolds’s either apartment address or the vanzan address. So yes, he’s paying for her production company, which I would call financing.

Liz is in a funny position because she had this feminist brand but if it comes to light she knew about Blake’s allegations in spring and summer 2024 and she gleefully hosted a podcast with him where week after week they tackled feminist issues and then she acted shocked when the article came out and dramatically quit, she’s going to look opportunistic and stupid.

She not a big enough name that she can weather that.

Blake has to prove SH and retaliation. Point blank. She has to provide evidence and win over a jury.

Justin has to defend himself against those 2 claims. Period.

That case is still ongoing and scheduled for trial by jury in March.

I am surprised because they quoted from his Ted Talks and I think other places where he claimed some feminist cred (podcast or his book, I don't remember), and the PP said "He talks about how he was not happy with his own behavior [on the set of IEWU] and he had not been living up to his own ideals" which sounds like something Lively's side would want to quote. I think you're attributing some kind of intent on my part that is not there. I'm genuinely asking about this podcast, not trying to imply it doesn't exist.

She's already weathering it. Her new podcast is sponsored by Katie Couric Media. Katie is doing promos for it.

And no, you are incorrect on the "financing" issue. Her podcast is financed through Katie Couric's company. You have to understand something about how shows get produced to understand this, but Liz's own production company is likely just a pass through or loan out company through which she is getting paid by Katie Couric. There are tax reasons why people set it up this way. Yes Ryan's business partner is her registered agent. This is not actually weird -- this is the kind of thing he does for a living. Plank is likely paying him, not the other way around, and Ryan has nothing to do with it.

You can look the podcast up yourself. I've seen it, so I know it exists. It came out sometime in the latter half of 2023. Baldoni only did a few episodes of the podcast after starting to work on IEWU so it should not be that hard to find. Mostly it was just Liz and Jamey for the last 18 months or so of the podcast because Baldoni was filming and then promoting IEWU.

Remember when Bryan Freedman said that he didn't want to file MTDs because it would give the other side a "roadmap" to how he planned to approach the case? Well guess what, all litigators hold back certain arguments in their early filings for this reason. Especially stuff they might use to impeach a key witness. The quotes from his Ted Talk or his book weren't about Blake or Baldoni's experience on IEWU -- that stuff was written and spoken before he even met Blake. But the comments on the podcast appear to directly relate to his experience on IEWU. That's impeachment material and if this thing goes to trial and Baldoni testifies, I would be surprised if Lively's team doesn't try to bring this up. I think they may also try to bring it up for Heath since he was there.

Lawyers don't lay out their entire trial strategy in a complaint or MTD. That would be stupid.

There would be literally no purpose in doing so as it is completely irrelevant.
