So many awful mushroom style haircuts. Between that and the side shaved mullet cut I see in the pitch, boys soccer has lost its style.

No one from DMV or DC United...Very telling.

Only 13 of the 26 MLS Clubs are represented

This is only one age group

DCU has, has had players selected in other age groups.

Selection process in soccer everywhere is more about politics and less about just talent.

Your comment is very telling of trying to push a biased shallow ignorant narrative.

Really?
That's your takeaway from a list of names on a USYNT camp list?

They also call it the beginning of the cycle.
So this is not a final list.

Did you really think that all of the MLS clubs have national team level talent?? Not sure how 13 of 26 matters? This is taking the best of all of them so one would expect that representation may be stronger in one region than another. (i.e. in this case CA and FL)

Yes, we're only talking about one age group. READ THE TITLE OF THE POST. We aren't talking about all ages or any other ages.

And for this age, DCU has no one selected. Unfortunately, that is just a fact.

Yes, soccer is political. Especially in the US. And very much agree, the USYNTs are often times more about politics than actual talent. Either way, DCU arguably failed on both of these fronts (political maneuvering for the players and talent development/ID) for this age group. And this is an age group that they have had in their system for almost three years (2009s have been at DCU for u14, u15 and now u16, the beginning ages of the USYNT cycles).

Not biased at all. I would love to glow about DCU. It is the only MLS academy in our area and ultimately, I want it to succeed because its success helps the kids in our area succeed.

California and Florida have 10 players between them.

Lol, noticed that as well earlier this year. I heard the style is called the broccoli hair cut.
-The haircut, so named for its closely shaved sides and its curly abundance up top, is in high demand for Gen Z. It goes by a few other (equally ridiculous) name, including the “bird’s nest,” the “Zoomer perm,” and even “alpaca teen gym bro hair"

I had something similar in the late 80's myself lol. Congrats to the kids otherwise!

So half the MLS Clubs "failed" because they don't have a player in this beginning list of the 2009's?

How can a club have players in 2010's but "fail" for not having 2009's? (currently)

You have access to the DCU 2009 rosters for the past 3 years?

Are all Division 1 clubs in Europe, Africa and South America represented in every youth age group for National team selections?

Your axe 🪓 should be down to a stub by now. Keep grinding.

California and Florida have a combined population of 61 million people. The DC metro region including parts of Virginia, MD, and West Virginia had a 2023 population of 6.3 million. (from wikipedia and a generous definition of metro area).

So you'd only expect the area to have 1, right? Do they average 1 across the USYNT age groups? In any one year, 1 is just within the margin of error. Age groups differ wildly. Hard to blame an organization based on this.

You obviously have your own criteria for "succeed"

That aside, no matter how subjectively successful an academy is, only a small percentage of players reach the highest levels. So neither the whole academy nor the masses of "kids in the area" are getting to the mountain top, regardless of how successful the academy.

If you have tunnel vision for slandering the organization for personal reasons, nothing logical, rational nor factual matters

100%

You dress for the job you want, clearly they want to be tiktokers not ballers.

The haircuts are not very aerodynamic, I imagine they create a good amount of drag slowing them down considerably and probably causing balance issues, and possibly compensation injuries if they have to move laterally too much. It would not surprise me if we see an increase in ACL and neck injuries on the next few years.

All kidding aside, just remarkable how similar they all are in their aesthetic. I’m happy for these boys, politics or not, they’re all working hard.
