Who walk around in super short shorts, athletic wear tight leggings, their crotch showing, butt crack, breasts stomach showing? I cannot believe Americans walk around like this or else they look like bums.
My grandmother almost fainted seeing my niece go out for a run. |
|
| Are they at a pool? |
| We think that we have our own skunks too. |
|
That they're FAT.
My immediate family lives in Western Europe, and my cousins live in East Asia. Everyone has a normal figure (AKA "slender" to American eyes) . So when they see Americans on the news, or if a few of them visit the US, what shocks them to their core is how overweight kids and adults are here. Spillage is out in the open. In most developed countries, it's perfectly fine to walk about in athleisure, or for older teens and young adults to wear short shorts and crop tops. But over there, precious few people will have tissue hanging out and wobbling. Here it does, and it makes the difference between unexceptional clothes and utter vulgarity. I've lived in the US for 20 years, but I have to say I agree with that assessment. |
Omg if you call someone fat on the relationship forum you have all these fat women and chubby lovers being passive aggressive to the op. |

Why would I give an eff about what women, in other countries, think about me living my life and being in my country?
And turning that around, you know how frequently I think about women who reside in other countries? Maybe .00001% of the time, and that’s solely when I’m about to travel to said country and wanting to dress appropriately. Otherwise could not care less. |
The question was not why, it was what. You answered as if it was a why. |
|
You lost me at the part about your niece going for a run. What is she supposed to wear running, other than leggings or shorts?
I wear short shorts and a sports bra with no shirt, gasp! Because it was 100 degrees all summer. |
| I don't think this is a good question. Why aren't you asking what American women think of American women? And why are you asking about women? Why aren't you asking about men? Or what do American women think of people from other countries? Can we leave American women alone, please? Also you are painting American women with a broad brush. The question assumes that all American women dress inappropriately, when that is not the case. |
|
I'm an immigrant from southern Europe. I couldn't care less about what women wear.
All fine with me, from the hijab to the tight leggings. As long as the woman herself is making the decision about her clothing choices. |
| A lot of them think American women are very good looking. American women tend to put a lot more effort into grooming themselves than many European women, for example, and have a "sexier" style than many Asian women. For example, blowouts, bouncy girls, elaborate manicures, elaborate makeup in the American style is not so much a thing in the rest of the world. The "girl next door" beauty ideal in the USA is somewhat exotic for people in other continents. |
The men love it. Believe it or not, men are attracted to female body parts, so the skintight gym leggings and low cut blouses are great for them. |
| aren't all the nude beaches in Europe? |
| Since men in Asia and Europe have never seen midriffs, cleavage, nor bare female legs, you can imagine the shock most of them experience. Some need to be hospitalized, contact their embassy for an immediate flight home, and require extensive counseling after the fact. It's really quite dire. |
