I’m a fan overall, it’s a nice fluff watch but I hate characters like Genevieve. They always follow such a predictable storyline and you know exactly what’s going to happen the minute they’re introduced. I’m tempted to just fast forward every scene she’s in
What do you think of the season? |
|
Agree that Genevieve was such a well worn trope.
Sylvie became a totally different person. I'm glad we got to witness some of a middle age evolution/rebellion. But I think she became way too nice to Emily in a way that was inconsistent with what I remember of earlier seasons. I bugs me that the Italian Stallion relented and ended up believing Emily who wasn't trying to hard to defend her case. Multiple times! In general I want more Mindy and Benoit, though I didn't love her courtyard piano song. Thank you for reaching my disjointed essay on Emily in Paris Season 4. Will they charge the name of the next season? |
| The filming locations (Megève, Rome) are spectacular, and so is the rose-tinted filming technique. It really shows the best of the European lifestyle, rubbing in that we don't have it in the US. |
Yes it’s so effective! I’m a middle aged, Midwest, mom of little kids in a blah marriage and it has me so loooooonging for my 20s and all my travels even though they were with way less money and love interests than in the show. I’m pondering whether by the time my kids are in hs and I can ditch them for a week, will I be too old to be glamorously wondering around the streets of Rome, staying up let, being interesting and doing interesting things |
Of course not! Go travel the streets of Rome at whatever age you want. |
| The storylines are so tired. Benoit and Mindy on and off. Gabriel, Emily, Camille/Gen/whoever love triangle. It's super dumb but i like ashleys singing and it's just eye candy |
You can take the children to Rome on vacation. It would be an unforgettable experience. Summers can be hot, though. We spent two weeks of spring vacation there a few years ago with our elementary school-aged kid. It was heavenly. |

It's funny how Emily's appearance is lifted straight from other movies or pop culture. Just three examples:
- her ski outfit is from Audrey Hepburn in "Charade" (highly recommended!), - her waiver pinned-up hair channels Kylie Jenner since she's been with Timothee Chalamet. - One of her Rome otfits (white blouse, long skirt plus flats) plus her hair style are Audrey Hepburn in "Holiday in Rome." |
Her masquerade outfit is Amanda burden at the black and white ball, and breakfast at Tiffany’s. https://www.tiktok.com/@trumansswans/video/7135200352902630662 https://www.britannica.com/topic/Breakfast-at-Tiffanys-film-by-Edwards |
No you will get there and want to sleep either because you will be older and/or from the pasta and if you drink, wine. Go when you're younger. And give yourself plenty do days to enjoy, beautiful place. |
Except all of the characters look 35 acting like 27 year olds. |

I thought this season was pretty terrible.
Spoilers below: Genevieve is annoying with no redeeming or humorous qualities. The writers keep boomeranging us between Emily and Mindy’s will they won’t they relationships with the same people and it’s super tired already. How many men from different countries can Emily date while delaying ending with Gabriel? They literally ran out of a storyline for Camille and stopped featuring her, which is a shame. Laurent just disappeared. There was evidently a time lapse of months between Christmas and the next episode featuring a polo match, yet they wrote it like it was days later. Lazy. The fashion is ugh. The marketing pitches are ugh. The only enjoyable character anymore is Luc and I’m happy to see more of him. |
You mean Roman Holiday. |
| The only saving grace is that they had Camille tell the truth. It would have been infuriating if she dragged on the pregnancy illusion. |
Yes I find Emily to look so much older this season. I think bangs help make her look younger but they keep pinning them up. |
