| We are currently looking to purchase in this neighborhood, has anyone on DCUM lived here? It looks very old money and low-key, and the prices seem slightly higher than the rest of Potomac. I'm curious to see other's thoughts on the area. |
| We live across falls and I use the walking trail on falls. It’s a very nice area and we like it. Easy to 495 and multiple ways into dc. Rockville and Gaithersburg are easy. 2 grocery stores and services (gas, haircuts, dry cleaners, chipotle & 5 guys, the Japanese restaurant is a gem) in the village. It’s easy living. |
| Airplane noise is awful. |
| Look all around that area. Been here for 26+ years. The only regret is that walking anywhere is far. But the canal and park are great |
| And airplane noise is not terrible. One does see the planes on approach to dca. But they are still quite high up near Potomac falls |
| "Old money?" REALLY?????????? |
+1 |
For the DC area, absolutely. |
| Was there last night, we leave nearby. It's lovely. I take long walks so I'd find it walkable to Potomac Village most days. |
What about departures? |
I’ve been watching flight aware for the last 30 minutes. Looks like dca is taking off to the north today and most of the planes going west seem to be following 270 up to about wooton pkwy before turning west. I’ve flow in into dca several times in this year and each time when over home we were still at a pretty high altitude. I don’t see it as a concern. I’m not sure who said it unbearable. |
|
My kids friends parents live there he is a doctor at Georgetown and she is IT at Freddie mac.
It is actually pretty assessable to DC and Tysons. Airplane noise is nonsense. I have seen every episode of RHOP and never heard a plane. |
| There’s a lot of airplane noise given its proximity to the river. Beware. |
There’s a crazy poster on here who thinks any neighborhood near the river between DC and WV has unbearable airplane noise. |
| Lots of money and well known people in this neighborhood. I like the large trees lining the streets and the fact that the houses are many different styles and not McMansions. |
