I’ve been watching these school board meetings, and I have been impressed with Mateo’s attention to detail, scrutiny, fiscal responsibility and courage to challenge other members.
On the other hand, someone like St John Cunning who always defend practices and employees no matter their negative impact and what they do respectively ……clown. |

Thanks for posting Mateo!

Ha, exactly. He’s still supporting the centreville expansion, so he’s more of an opportunist than anything. I find it hilarious that these extreme left sb members’ hallmark position is that we have to be extremely frugal. It’s like they’ve become fiscal libertarians. |
None of them besides Moon have any credibility because they all posture endlessly simply to advance their own personal agendas. And they’ve done everything they can to avoid any meaningful public input or accountability. |
| I stopped watching a couple of years ago after Covid because of the ridiculousness and the political affiliations. Are the meetings any better these days? What is on their agenda? Why do you watch the meetings? |
| Agree, OP. He asks hard questions and for details and doesn’t just go along and he seems to do the work unlike my member, Lady. I appreciate that he elevated the renovation queue reform in the year end budget review last night. I thought fcps was already working on fixing the renovation queue, though! I thought they started that last year. |
They don’t want anything to get in the way of their equity-driven redistricting plans. God forbid they actually figure out which schools deserve renovations or additional capacity first. |
Correcting myself - this is additional funds. They already allocated $2M so hopefully someone has been doing something on this already. |
| Unfortunately Mateo doesnt seem to be able to bring along his colleagues. Most of his motions, including the renovation queue allotment, fail. |
So he wanted to allocate more money so it was done on a timely basis. His colleagues want to drag it out so they can redistrict first. It’s people like Robyn Lady, who want to make sure she can shove Great Falls kids into her own school (Herndon) before any alternatives are identified that might render that unnecessary. |
| The cultural appropriation is way too much for me. I knew Matt Dunne, and he wasn't liked. |
| No one should support the 100million dollar CVHS expansion. What a waste of money. Especially with plenty of seats available in Herndon and a declining student population in CVHS and Chantilly. Pretty sure I heard that there wasn’t more money for expansions anyway and that we should move kids around to the available seats. |
|
Dunne got it exactly right, and he was supported by the few members with any sense like Moon and McElveen.
But it was voted down because the shitty class warriors like St. John Cunning want to reshuffle kids around sooner rather than later and not be burdened by sound information that might result in better decisions. |
Matthew Stanton Dunne III before the election. |
He’s absolutely crazy. But apparently has time to post on these forums! Hey Matt. |
