| It is odd to me that a public high school charges for parking permits. What does this money go towards? |
| I don't know what the money goes towards, but it's completely justifiable to charge for parking permits. Driving to school should not be encouraged for students. Transportation is provided, and there is too much traffic on the roads as it is. |
I agree completely! There are too many parents driving and picking up their kids from school. I picked up my daughter once from HS to get her to an appt, and it took 15-20 minutes to leave the area. |
| It doesn't cost nothing to run the parking permit program. There are busses for those who don't want to take advantage of it. Seems reasonable to me. |
| To encourage the bus. Much greener. |
|
Not only are school buses an option, the public bus is also FREE to students.
It is reasonable that they charge for the privilege to park at school. |
+1 |
Each school may handle the specifics differently, but the money typically goes into a school activities fund to help cover expenses of student events. |
| I do t think students should be allowed to drive and park at all. |
+1 and who should be paying to maintain the parking lot? Plow, sanding, potholes, lighting? |
| Our high school parking fees (seniors only, no space for juniors) goes towards funding prom and the all night grad party. |
| Problems of the privileged. Only families who can afford to give their kids cars have to pay for this. Not too many people are going to be feeling sympathy for those who complain about this. |
My kids ride the bus but it’s super annoying not to have activity buses in high school. That might cut down on the driving. Do any high schools have them? Our middle did but WJ does not. |
| Why can't the seniors paint their parking spot like every other county and district in the freaking country. All the money goes back to the school and it looks like so much fun |
Taxes don't cover this? |
