+1 and it’s always been this way, even since since the mid 90s. As far as I remember, Students have always been charged for parking permits. |
| They always have and they are usually limited. The good news is you can just street park in the neighborhood. If the neighbors don't like it they can encourage the school to offer more parking. |
NOT to ALL students. HS students living within 2.0 miles of school are not provided bussing. |
Ride on and metro busses are free to all students county wide. |
|
Our high school uses it as a fundraiser. The money goes back to the school.
I'm surprised people think these things are "free" |
I agree. My kid drives and we pay for a spot. I have never once complained about it. That’s the price of convenience We’re good with that. |
Nope, our neighborhood (adjacent to the school) is resident permit only, precisely so that HS students and others coming to the school for games, plays, etc. don't park by our houses. There is no option for "the school to offer more parking" for an urban/crowded suburban area like ours. |
|
Love this irony of this "my kid has a car, but I'm too cheap to pay for a spot"
In my neighborhood school parking is $50 and parents complain every year - and these are folks with million dollar homes and cars for each kid. The money goes direct to the school for activities the county doesn't pay for. Shame on OP |
OMG look at a school budget every now and then. Your ignorance is astounding. |
There are actually students who have work-study programs where they go to a job site after school. Driving could be the best or even only option to make that work. |
Also, sometimes school ends early for them. So they have a half-day of school and then a half-day of work. There would be no way to do this by public transportation and school buses. |
I know students who have done this by public transportation. Obviously this would not work for all students under every circumstance, but then driving also doesn't work for all students under every circumstance. |
Yikes, that's embarrassing to admin you have no clue how things work. |
This really depends on where the school and job are. |
And not all communities have public buses or buses that go to the school. Nor, do all communities have sidewalks, and some kids have to cross one or multiple major roads. Also, there is only a limited activity bus for kids who have to stay late. |
