Dinner ideas considering these variables?

Anonymous
We are flying into an airport, renting a car, and will then be driving to a National Park area. The first night we will be staying in a cabin rental that is in the middle of nowhere. No food options. We will only have a microwave. We will be hitting up the last grocery store (and food option) on our way out of town.

What’s something we can prepare for dinner that we won’t need to keep cold in the car, but that can be microwaved (or not, we don’t have to have something that requires heating—I’m not even sure we will have a can opener)

Any ideas?

Hit the deli area of the grocery store for prepared food
Make sandwiches
Burritos (go veggie or use a rotisserie chicken or other ready meat)
Noodle bowls (add some meat and veggies if you want to be fancy)
Frozen entrees (pasta, pierogies, tv dinners, frozen noodles)
Bagged salad
Beans and rice (use shelf stable rice that is parcooked)
For breakfast grab some bagels and cream cheese and fruit

Microwave popcorn and fruit. Having a protein-less meal for one meal won't be a big deal.

I would have PB&J

Can openers can be very small and basic. Bring one.

Bring utensils.
Rotisserie chicken.

We will be in the desert with no way of keeping these items cold during our drive, as I said in the OP.

To be fair to the PP who gave all these ideas, a cold noodle bowl is a real thing.

How long is the drive from the grocery store to the cabin?

How long is the drive? You could fill up a few ziploc bags with ice and keep sandwich fixings appropriately cool in doubled-up paper grocery bags for a few hours. If you're not ok with that - canned or boxed soup, PB&J, fruit.

It would definitely be pbj for us.

Your post is confusing. You just need 1 dinner? For your first night? Or several? If so, how many?

hawaiian rolls, crackers, bread, tortillas, bread, etc.
cheese
summer sausage/pepperoni
fruit (fresh, dried, canned/cups)

Hormel Compleats (I haven’t actually tried these)

You can get shelf-stable (like juice boxes) milk.

PBJ, chips, apples. It's one meal - keep it simple.

I like tasty bites (Indian food) too.
Pbj and apples or bananas is a good choice too.
