Religious exemption for vaccine

Anonymous
We file a religious exemption with my kidscollege, we had most vaccines but then we did some research. They might not allowed him to register for the Spring Semester.. Is VT allowed to do this? We don’t have money for a lawyer so we not sure what to do.

Get the vaccine.

Move. Hope you don't get meningitis or measles or whatever

Since your objections weren't actually religious, I don't think there's a first amendment argument to be made here. If your kid is in college, he is an adult. If he wants to stay at school, he will have to follow the rules. If he doesn't want to follow the rules he can find a different school (liberty could work) and take out loans as needed to pay for it, or get a job (probably not military; they have lots of vaccine requirements). It's his choice.

What is your religion, OP? I am curious which religion opposes vaccines.

OP, which one has the student not had? Is this about the meningitis? According to the Virginia Tech website, there should be a waiver in the portal: "Students may request an exemption in the Healthy Hokies Portal. Signing the exemption indicates that they have received information on the risks of meningococcal disease, and the availability of an effective vaccine, and choose not to be vaccinated." https://healthcenter.vt.edu/new_student/required_immunizations.html

If ever there’s a time for vaccinations, it’s when you live in close quarters with thousands of people, have compromised immune systems from staying up too late and eating like college students do, and possibly engaging in more sexual activity than any other time in life. Unless your “research” was enrolling in medical school, get the vaccines

Anti-vax isn’t a religion, just a cult.

+1 Yeah, your first amendment rights aren't being violated, OP. There's no right to pretend your religion disallows something when in fact you've done TikTok research and changed your mind about a thing (but not your religion) since the time you used to do that very thing.

LMAO

What cockamamie religion doesn't allow Covid vaccines? Seems like it's time to get a new religion then.

Cool. Did he use this research as an EC when he applied?

There are just a very few fringe religions that don't want you to have vaccines. Everyone else just uses the religious excuse because they don't want the vaccine for some other reason.

How did your "research" turn up that your religion doesn't allow vaccines? Seems like if this was a bona fide religious belief, you would have already known about it.

Or your son can just stay home and not spread meningitis, which is deadly.
