Bus overcrowding

DC told me the bus (MS) was three to a seat with some kids having to sit in the floor in the back of the bus. I don’t know if this is happening in other busses but can’t imagine that is sustainable.

There's a bus driver shortage. Are you volunteering? The pay is pretty good (the hours aren't).

Three to a seat is normal. My son is 6'2, so I agree it's ridiculous. My kids also can't bring their instrument on the bus.

So bus riders quit band/orchestra? This is our first year (first day) riding the bus and DC hasn't had to deal with bringing the instrument yet.

3 to a seat should not be normal past elementary age! I haven't experienced this with my kid, our bus is pretty empty, but I've seen it on other routes. I bet its very hard to redistribute.

I have a co/ worker whose son played cello. She had to drive him to school on the days he had band practice.

Doesn’t sitting on the floor block the emergency exit? I can’t believe that’s allowed.

Yes it does. What else can they do if there is nowhere to sit?

Deny boarding. Parents have to figure out transportation.

Depending on the instrument, you have to do kiss and ride. Small ones can go on the bus.

That part is not normal, based on my kids's experience.

We rented an instrument that stayed at the school. My DC played the upright bass.
