| In the past year I've taken about 2 days combined, mostly for my doctor's appointments or my kids' appointments. I've never called out sick for an entire day. I feel like if I do. the stress of returning the next day to 100+ emails stresses me out even more. |
|
Especially give wfh I rarely call out an entire day. I might take a few hours here and there.
The exceptions were when I had to have back surgery (was out for 3 days and then resumed work) and had to have an emergency appendectomy (another 3 day out). |
| Only when needed. |
| 0 in 2023 but I do take a good amount of vacation days. I rarely ever get sick and DH can manage DS if he's sick. I also work 3 12 hr shifts a week. And my work there is only one of us on shift and someone HAS to be there. So we don't have a huge pool to pull from if someone calls out sick. |

Almost never. I don’t call out either
But I am late a lot |
| I take a couple hours for dr appointments way more often than full sick days. We don’t have short term disability so they give us a lot of sick time. I did recently take four days off for surgery. That was a lot. |
| Most years, none. This year I took three weeks after an operation. |
| In a normal year almost never. But I once took off a week for surgery, and have taken off for family member illness/death. |
Why would anyone take un-needed sick days? |
|
I have a toddler so we get all the illnesses and I probably take 5 per year. Before kids, I never took any.

Some people really stretch the boundaries, or have the Monday Flu and/or mental health/I’m not feeling it today days. Some people, especially younger employees, seem to view it as time that needs to be taken (I’m a fed, so there are different pots) and then get all Pikachu-faced when they get something serious and have no leave. I’m a supervisor, and I see all kinds. But I also see the martyrs who show up coughing and sneezing, and I can’t actually force them to go home. If you are sick, stay home. So, I don’t stay home every time I wake up with a bit of a headache or am over tired. If I have a fever or other sickness, I call out. I don’t get sick that often so it’s not that frequent. This year I had a bunch if medical tests, so I have been taking a bunch of half days, although for some of the complicated ones, I took the whole day. |
|
I probably call out once a year. I’m a first responder so feel bad because someone has to cover my shift.
I use schedule sick days though for legit appts. Probably 2-4 times a year. I work 12s so will sometimes work 6 hours then take 6 hours of SL for a dentist/doc appt. |
|
My company gives us 5 sick days to either use or lose each year.
So, I take 5 sick days a year. |

0.
I get sick on weekends. It is most unfortunate. |
| We get a certain number of hours per year and they don’t carry over. I shoot to take about 80% of those hours, mostly half days for family dr appts and mental health days. Above that, you’re on the naughty list. Below that, no one cares as long as the work gets done and it def gets done. |
