| You hope he takes a good look at the youth system development program and institutes positive changes |
lol. None of the leagues would have any interest in listening to him. Even if US soccer wanted to implement changes, they don't have the resources |
What leagues? He would just be focussed on the top tier USYNTs pools Can't boil the ocean |
The development pool for USYNT draws from multiple leagues scattered with clubs scattered across the country none of whom are beholden to US Soccer. US Soccer does not have the resources to create an academy or to bring training in house or to cajole the league to follow their standards |
| Chelsea owes him money so he cannot sign with USMNT yet |
You must not be following the USYNTs closely on the boys side. They are all from MLS Club or European academies. With maybe one or two exceptions. Not pulled from all corners of the earth. There is a process and criteria to select the final rosters of U23, U21, U18 He can definitely have input on that. Based on looking at the program at that level, the development system topic (to be on that level) has to come up. |
I think he’ll be focused on preparing usmnt for the World Cup. |
He will first have to look at the pool he has to choose players from for his rosters. |
|
Klinsmann got hired, looked at the pool he had to work with and announced our domestic systems and products were crap
Brought in good players from overseas and was lambasted by Lalas and other pay-to-play disciples |
It's possible that both pools are crap relative to expectations. |
You're saying our soccer culture and level of soccer development is on par with the overseas powerhouses? |
| Poch is a huge step up from Gregg. He had Chelsea turned around by the end of the season. I don't care what he does with the squad. Too many players that put in mediocre performances on a regular basis. No player should think his job is safe under him. |
at least with Poch we can lose while trying to win instead of losing while trying not to lose as under Greg |
Agreee with this. No one will care what his views are. They will be telling him what to do. |
| I admired his turnaround at Chelsea. From a totally shambolic signing strategy he brought order and wins. Maybe it won't work for the USMNT but he's a strong hire and I support it. |
