What are some of the LACs that attracts diverse students? And of those what are some that are more intellectually inclined?
Thanks |

Most diverse are Pomona, Swarthmore, and Amherst.
Pomona intellectualism is more silent hard worker. Really chill students but you won’t hear them complain about how hard the problem sets are in a gloating way. Your TA may go to Cambridge for a PhD and never tell you (happened to me) Amherst is typical New England work hard play hard. People dig deep into their individual interests and tend to be the workaholic types that you can also have a beer with. Swarthmore. They’re serious about school, and you’ll see students piling on as many classes as possible to keep up the face of being able to handle the rigor. You know those tv scenes where the smart kid can’t hear anything going on cause they’re too engrossed in a book-that vibe. |
| ^pretty much sums it up. Those have always been the diverse liberal arts colleges. |
Williams, Haverford, Davidson? |
All good schools too, just less diverse- Davidson significantly less so. |
| Wesleyan |
None are known for diversity. Williams loves white athletes. Haverford doesn't attract to students of color when they can go to Swarthmore, and Davidson has the horrors of Patterson Court |
| Wesleyan is most diverse. |
| wesleyan |
| Amherst and Swarthmore are much more diverse (racially) than Wesleyan. Numbers available in the CDS. |
|
Grinnell diverse and eclectic, 18% international (50 countries) and 26% demistic students of color.
Open curriculium, intellectual and very liberal in small Iowa town that is hard to get to. A school you really have to visit. |
That is a horrible domestic students of color percentage. Clues into the fact that its an undiverse, unsafe place for students of color, and they need to attract a ton of internationals to convince anyone to come. |
| Connecticut College is amazingly diverse and up there with the ivies for the range of students. |
