| Has anyone had a great trip to CDMX with kids? I haven't been since long ago, before kids, and am tempted by a direct flight. We're on the West Coast and considering as a spring destination alternative to a more traditional beach vacation in Hawaii or Cabo. We're relatively well-traveled and would probably spring for a nice hotel to have a pool for the kid but would not likely be there for the nightlife, or even with as much focus on foods as I'd otherwise expect most do. I think my kid would love a day trip to Teotihuacan, but in general we're not super interested in guided tours, long transit days, or a "difficult" cultural trip. No hablo fluido pero me defiendo... |
| OP here, the lack of response makes me think we should wait a few years until our kid can better appreciate food and museums |
| Following as I’m hoping to take this trip next year! I love Mexico City but have only been sans kids… |

We took our 5yo (and 3yo) a year or so ago. She had a great time! Some things we enjoyed:
- Teotihuacan. We did hire a driver and guide for this. It would be difficult to appreciate the significance or learn much without a guide. We also ate at the restaurant in the cave there. It was touristy? But that’s fun sometimes! - Ballet Folklorico. Picking up the tickets was a nuisance but it was a great show! And then the location was great to go see the Aztec Museum (you can see a lot from the road, but I’d go in personally) and walking around the square. - Casa Azul, where they also had an art activity we could participate in which was a huge highlight. Check the museum website and you definitely do need tickets early. - Chapultepec Park. We enjoyed the pedal boats, the little train (although it was hard to figure out the schedule since it was inconsistent everywhere we looked), face painting, and general playing. Things I wouldn’t do again: - the hop on hop off bus. It was just SO dang slow. We took the subway everywhere and it was super easy. Buses were less consistent and sometimes just didn’t exist. There would be a schedule but no bus ever showed and local vendors we asked nearby would report no knowledge of a bus coming by there. |
| I went recently with older kids but I think. Five year old would have a blast at the activities that PP just mentioned. Totally recommend it. I LOVED CDMX! |
| Thank you for the feedback! |
| Went with a 3 year old last year and loved it, tons of parks, great restaurants and cafes, an aquarium and kids museum. Stay in Condesa! |
Forgot to mention only take Ubers, not regular taxis. |

I have not been with kids but if you go then consider staying here:
https://www.viadora.com/our-collection/xoma/ It's in the heart of Roma and has a pool on the rooftop. |

Yes! I went with my kids when they were 4, 8 and 10. Stay in Condesa near the Parque de España - it has a great playground with a gelato place right on the park. You can also walk to Parque México. Tons of great coffeeshops and restaurants around. Lots of green space. Then use that as your base to go to the Zocalo, Chapultepec Park, the Castillo de Chapultepec (awesome), and (farther afield) Coyoacán and Teotihuacán.
Mexico City is amazing and I'm hoping to go again with my kids soon! |
| Check out Kidzania!! |
