We took our 5yo (and 3yo) a year or so ago. She had a great time! Some things we enjoyed: - Teotihuacan. We did hire a driver and guide for this. It would be difficult to appreciate the significance or learn much without a guide. We also ate at the restaurant in the cave there. It was touristy? But that’s fun sometimes! - Ballet Folklorico. Picking up the tickets was a nuisance but it was a great show! And then the location was great to go see the Aztec Museum (you can see a lot from the road, but I’d go in personally) and walking around the square. - Casa Azul, where they also had an art activity we could participate in which was a huge highlight. Check the museum website and you definitely do need tickets early. - Chapultepec Park. We enjoyed the pedal boats, the little train (although it was hard to figure out the schedule since it was inconsistent everywhere we looked), face painting, and general playing. Things I wouldn’t do again: - the hop on hop off bus. It was just SO dang slow. We took the subway everywhere and it was super easy. Buses were less consistent and sometimes just didn’t exist. There would be a schedule but no bus ever showed and local vendors we asked nearby would report no knowledge of a bus coming by there.
