Big change in CollegeVine chances

Anonymous
Anyone notice big changes in CollegeVine chances over the past few days? DD's list has gotten considerably rosier. I don't hold much stock in prediction websites, but I'm wondering why the sudden change. Did a bunch of new data come out?

Interesting. I just looked because you posted and the odds have changed in both directions on my kid's list. The target category got huge, with both reaches moving into target and safeties moving into target.

Maybe related to more SAT submission data points for class of 2028?

Weird…for my kid, it moved Yale and Stanford to targets from reaches, which is kind of ridiculous.

Ditto for us with Princeton, Penn and Duke. LoL, I wish

Moved Harvard, Yale, and Stanford to safeties. Weird.

Reaches stayed the same but it moved Wisconsin from safety to target which makes sense as it was never a safety for my son being out of state

So, this seems more like a bug than an update.

I love that you guys had ivy leagues on your list

I see big changes in chances. No idea what would cause this.

I don't know if this comment is correct as it appears to be a random poster:

It did! Collegevine starting taking into account the 2nd digit of your GPA and overhauled their algorithm. For example, in the past, there was no difference in chancing from 3.80 to 3.85, even though there is a big differencee in reality. If you stimulate the closest GPA to the 1st decimenal (3.83 ==>3.8), your chances will look a bit more like they used to. Additionally, they started putting more weight on ECs. And, of course, they entirely removed race from the equation, but that was a while back lol. Hope this helps!

The algorithm change has got to be more than just the GPA rounding and ECs. My kid's profile with a 4.0 also saw a dramatic increase in chances. Has very basic ECs. Any more ideas as to what the algorithm change was?

Weird!

Oberlin went from about 37% up to 58%.
Pitt dropped from 75% to 37%.

She’s class of ‘24 and she was accepted to both.

Why? My kid is headed to one (unhooked) next year. He got into two of them RD
