how long did your baby wear Newborn size clothing?

Trying to figure out if I should wash eveything or hold off in case the twins outgrow NB too fast and fit into 0-3. When did your babies switch to 0-3?

I would definitely hold off because every baby is different. However, my little baby wore her newborn clothes for 2 or 3 months. When she was first born, they were all too big!

Mine outgrew it in a couple of weeks despite being a preemie. She weighed in at a little over 6 pounds even though she was five weeks early. Her full term younger sister weighed in at 8+ pounds and never did the newborn size.

You just won't know until your babies are here. If you have gotten around to washing the clothes, I assume your due date is close. Good luck and best wishes!

If you're having twins, most of our experiences won't be useful. My baby was 9.5 pounds, and I returned every single piece of NB clothing with the tags still on.

8 lb 5 oz baby wore nb for almost a month! I was glad we had plenty of outfits ready to wear. We had a lot of diaper leaks and consequent outfit changes in the early days, between liquid poop and our inexperience at diapering.

7lbs, 2 oz wore NB for 6 weeks.

7lbs, 11 oz wore NB for 4-5 weeks.

8.5 and 9.5 pounds. A week or two. Suggest maybe buy a few NB things, but not much, until you meet the wearer of the clothing.

7 lbs, 1 oz wore newborn for 5 weeks. I had to send DH out to Target to buy newborn jammies (wish I had been there to see that ) because we had taken the advice of everyone who said don't get NB stuff because they never wear it. I say buy it, but as PP said, unless it's a hand me down, don't take the tags off till you know what you're dealing with.

oh, and get the NB jammies with ZIPPERS from target!!! those were the best, best jammies we had. all those snaps will make you crazy. also any jammies made of terrycloth ... they absorb all the spit up.

Agree that the zippered ones are great! However, the Gerber ones at Target run about a size small. We bought the 0-3 ones and by the time the baby was wearing 0-3, they barely fit. I think the Carter ones they sell are more true to size. I'd avoid the Circo ones - they go over the head and I wasn't up for dealing with that right at the start.

My son wore NB for about a minute and a half.

Always buy larger. He's adorable in baggy clothes. Mommy is less stressed, knowing that he'll fit what he's wearing for more than two weeks.

There's enough to worry about. For sure.

I'd say with twins, it is safe to say they will be wearing NB, at least for a little while. If you have a ton of NB clothing, I wouldn't wash it all, but pick out a few of the cute ones and have them washed and ready to go. Then if they are small and you know they will fit into them for a while, wash the rest. If they are on the big side, you can always wash the rest when you bring them home.

We didn't get any NB stuff, which is good because we had a 8.5 pounder. We did get a few hand me down NB outifts from my SIL and he wore those for probably 2 weeks. My SIL had twins and they did wear NB outfits for about 2 months, but they were smaller, 6 pounds each.

Loved the zip pajamas from Target. Also love the zip pajamas from Children's Place!
