need the opinions of District moms

Would you be interested in a baby supply store? Not necessarily a Babies R Us, but a locally owned store selling all things baby, such as diapers, breastpumps, bottles, nursing pillows, possibly clothing, etc., and may possibly provide a small gathering space for local moms as well.

Its called Target and that's where all the nannies hang out.

what? where women could pump and sip lattes while chatting?

I would. I despise Buy Buy Baby and would love to have a less impersonal alternative.

Can say for sure, but I'd definitely be interested in hearing more...

I love this image. Although I'm also picturing the expression of the poor man who wanders in by mistake and sees lots of women hooked up to pumps.

It depends how close it is to my house. We've turned to Giggle as a baby supply store, but they don't always have the most practical stuff (or the cheapest!). It beats driving 30 minutes to BBB or BRU though.

Depends on pricing, really.

And Target is locally owned? How do you figure, PP? Publicly owned company with headquarters in Minnesota. Sounds pretty DC to me.

dupont mom here-very intersted.

I would be - I u could have a place that was a combination of Giggle/dawn Price and Starbucks with cheaper prices then I think you could have a hit on your hands.

That's exactly what I was thinking of, PP. A combined retail/gathering space, possibly with retail on one level and gathering on the 2nd (although would need an elevator or something for strollers). Stocking baby essentials from diapers to strollers. Coffee/snacks in the gathering space, as well as any classes or seminars moms would want to attend.

I am also exploring the idea of offering a baby supply delivery service, free delivery within a limited area, small to moderate fees depending how far you go.

diapers.com takes 1-2 days...I thought she meant you get your order in 30 minutes or less.
