What's next? |
Hamas or Houthi -- or maybe both. |
Can anyone explain to me why the normal Lebanese population are utterly unable to control their own security? Why are they under the thumb of Iran/Hezbollah/Hamas/Russia? Aside from Hezbollah the Lebanese do not even share a border with any of these countries!
The Lebanese seem to produce an outsized share of business elite, academics, writers, etc. There is no lack of leadership talent in Lebanon. How is it that they are not more akin to Turkey from a security standpoint? |
Long story short is that Lebanon is a small country in a war torn region, and those conflicts spill over the border making it essentially impossible to have a strong unified government. Also, any Lebanese that doesn't want to deal with it, has already peaced-out of the country. |
Isn't it obvious, brain-talent drain. Who is left behind to "lead?" Well, you know who. |
It’s because Israel wants a free fire zone around its border. The same reason Israel supported ISIS. |
Are Hezbollah composed and led by ethnic Lebanese? Or is it primarily Iranians "placed" into Lebanon by Iran? Or is Hezbollah a magnet for transnational Islamic terrorist from around the world (similar to ISIS)? |
Lebanon remains in a delicate balance of very different factions as a result of its current political structure. Each group has its own militias and one provocative move toward another could lead to another civil war, so they have been trying to avoid it. Hezbollah is just one of the groups. |
No it’s because Israel has refused to address the Palestinians issue. As long as that continues to fester nothing will change. Remember Israel was allied with ISIS. |
Wrong!!
Israel was not allied with ISIS! You make it sound like they were partners….. ISIS wanted to destroy Israel as well, but posed no immediate threat to Israel. So Israel chose not “to fight ISIS”…. This is way different than being an ally. ISIS was fighting Syria and Iraq. Enemies of Israel. Why would Israel fight an enemy that is attacking enemies of their own? If ISIS defeated Iraq and Syria and got to the Israel border, you bet they would fight them as ISIS also wanted to destroy Israel. https://cgsrs.org/publications/31 Read this and stop with the stupid ignorant commentary that there’re allies. |
All of the Middle East should be glassed into a parking lot. Israel included. So tired of these nations constantly fighting over desert |
Lebanon is too complex to govern effectively. Their constitution divides power among Sunni, Shi'a, and Mennonite Christians. Throw in Iranian-backed Hezbollah, which has the most powerful military force in Lebanon. Add a decade or two of civil war largely caused by Palestinians. Mix with profound corruption. Sprinkle with a long history of political assassinations. Throw in years of brain drain. Fill the gap with foreign interference - from France to Israel to Iran. And the result is Lebanon. |
Israels army for hire ISIS didnt even beat Hezbollah or Assad despite all their brutality and drama .
How will the IDF beat Hezbollah? |
Lebanon’s problem is Iran somehow took over in Southern Lebanon to scare Israel but the problem was it was either Hezbollah, Palestinian migrants, or Israeli settlers taking over the hills of S Lebanon and they picked the first poison because it’s the lowest national security threat they could choose from all three poisons . Being sacrificial lambs for a Hamas/Palestinian war campaign or having Israeli settlers/IDF killing and stealing their people homes getting themselves Palestine’d are worse options |
