So the recalls are dead, right?

I think Allen's team has less than two weeks and their presence on X has been next to nothing lately. Makes those threads from the winter all the funnier though!

The goal of the recalls were to get Allen to stop making embarrassing headlines and support anti-crime policy. They were very successful.

By any measure, Allen has swung hard right on crime.

He was exposed making such embarrassing lies he put his head down and voted the right way while pretending to care about time. Total success.

So, what happens with all of the money both sides raised?

Think of the national Democrats that funded the recall as Mama, who raises an eyebrow and threateningly puts a hand into the money bag whenever Allen picks up his phone to post about crime in DC. The recall was about ensuring safety for wealthy political/lobbyists as well as repairing the image of Democrats as crime apologists.

In yet another story that mostly consists of simping for Charles Allen (as usual for him), City Paper's Alex Koma writes:

"LL has heard some apprehension among Allen’s allies in recent weeks that they’ll have enough signatures to do so."

Plus, Brian Schwalb hosted a really tacky fundraiser for Allen this week -- it was 99 percent White people -- to raise money for the anti-recall effort. If the recall was the joke that so many people here think it is, why is Allen so worried about it?

There has been absolutely nothing from the people pushing the recall efforts in wards 1 and 6.

Total crickets.

Where did the recall people go?

They’re scrambling to save their guy at the top of the ticket.

Again, why is Charles Allen raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight the recall if it's such a dead issue?

It isn't dead until the deadline passes. I assume, until then, he believes he will need to mount a campaign.

It's remarkable to me that he can show his face in public the way so many of his self-aggrandizements were of the "my dad is stronger than your dad" playground variety.

As embarrassing as those were, even worse from a city safety standpoint was lying about being assaulted and then never filing a police report.

It's amazing that Charles Allen now says his defund MPD tweets were not true and that it was the mayor who instituted a MPD hiring freeze.
