is Virginia Tech's family weekend worth it?

We live about a 7-8 hour flight away from DC and then adding in the drive to Blacksburg is another 4 hours to get to Blacksburg. I don't mind attending, but is the family weekend worthwhile or should I plan on going on another weekend?

What country are you coming from that is a 7-8 hour flight from DC?

Forget about family weekend, I'm not sure that VT is worth for your child to attend from that distance.

I wouldn't bother. Just visit another weekend. Plan for when you can go to a football game. Not sure about this year but historically there has not been a football game on parent weekend.

No. And hotels are crazy pricey.

Are you kidding? Why are you even asking this question. Of course it is not worth it.

We're only a 4-hour drive from VT and don't plan to go for family weekend. We'll go down another time.

As far as we can tell, the main event for family weekend is the football game (plenty of other opportunities for that) and maybe a few other small planned events that don't look particularly interesting.

Also, family weekend is only one month into the school year, which seems a little early for a visit, but recognize that's a personal preference.

Team pick another weekend here!

I don’t know any college where it’s worth it, including VT. I plan not to go those weekends.

Are you the family from Germany on our tour last spring break? The dad seemed sure stoked about VTech.

What does worth it even mean to you? Do you want your kid to be one of their only friends without a family there? Just because you don’t wanna go down on a busy weekend because it’s not worth it for you? These worth it questions are so bonkers.

Not bonkers, just a genuine question as I’m planning to go visit sometime in the fall.

That's not going to be the case. A lot of kids don't want their parents around that weekend anyways..
