Given the odds that we may well get one of them in the oval given the ages of Trump and Biden, let’s talk through the merits of these VP candidates and their records. Besides being a mouthpiece for Trump I don’t know much about Vance. And Harris’ record as a DA in CA doesn’t sit well with me… |
Didn't Vance write the book that became a movie starring Amy Adams as his mom and Glenn Close as grandmaw or mee maw? Hillbilly Elegy? |
Yes he did. |
Vance is willing to participate in trying to overturn an election. Keep that nonsense out of power. |
Is the movie any good? I’ve neither watched it or read the book |
Not very good. |
The book was a bestseller. (I haven't read it but I've certainly heard of it.) It's a memoir - so people have complained about some inaccuracies or exaggerations, but they don't understand memoirs. Memoirs aren't autobiographies, they are the story of someone's life. |
He is very nice. Met him at the book signing in DC. I can see why he quickly became a senator. He is a unique person, which is why a company paid for him to write his memoir. |
There is more info about JD Vance on the GOP VP thread. |
The book, if true, lays out a deeply, deeply misogynistic worldview in which his mother bears the blame for his father and grandfather’s abuse, which they have no apparent guilt for. |
A company? Do you mean Harper Collins? |
He means Peter Thiel, who is Vance's owner. |
That is plain silly. She was a drug addict. He lives by his mom now, who is in recovery |
JD Vance is an opportunist, which was apparent even at the time his book became popular, before he ever entered politics. He's a turncoat who despised Trump before he understood Trumpism was the way to more power and riches.
Harris is your regular politician, slightly corrupt like they all are, but by no means rotten. However Biden can see his way to stepping aside now and letting Harris fight the good fight. With a centrist (or even conservative) VP as young as Vance, for good measure. I'd like Kinzinger. |
