FCPS early release Mondays- updates?

Anonymous
Starting a new thread because the existing early release Mondays thread seems to be cluttered with a number of topics now.

As are now in the second half of summer, has anyone heard more from their school directly about plans for early release Mondays, beyond the initial county announcements?

I’m waiting to find out which Mondays and any plans for after care for families not in regular after care. No communication yet from our school, curious about others.

We just had a newsletter Friday that listed the dates for our school. I think it's all on the FCPS website, though, if you search. I think there are two different groups of dates depending on your school.

There was not any reference to the school providing childcare for those who need it, though, which I think the Superintendent said would be available.

It sure didn't take long for the teachers union to screw us over.

What does this have to do with the teachers union? They had nothing to do with it. Perhaps you can cite something that shows otherwise.

It took me no more than 15 seconds to find the dates:

You don't think it's a coincidence they're going with half days, which are good for teachers, but terrible for kids and families?

You think it's a coincidence, I mean

This wasn't a union action-- it was decided before the collective bargaining agreement. It happened because elementary principals really pushed for it as a solution to the lack of planning time for elementary teachers.

The half days are because of Youngkin’s literacy act, not teacher unions.

Did that act specify half days to accommodate the training? No, it didn't.

Now it’s in the hands of the steering committee and the individual schools.

Even now there is no CBA. Not yet.

That was a SB decision. There was no “bargaining” on this.

Our ES doesn't communicate with families, so I'm not expecting any news until the first day of school.
