Do teams still do this? Or are team doing away with them? If so, why? |
Ours still does paper plate awards. |
It’s bad for the environment |
Our team still does them. DCs HS team does them, too. |
How is this worse than medals/trophies? My son is in high school now and still has all his paper plate awards. These actually mean more to him because they are personal. |
Ours does. |
Those baduc whate paper plates? So harmless compared to the pile of 'trophies' my young adult just tossed. |
Mine does. My kids aren’t the popular ones though and never get one. Instead they anxiously sit there the whole time thinking that someone will call their name. It’s awful. |
Sarcasm |
Wow. Our team does one for every swimmer. |
Ours does them for every swimmer too. |
We only do them for our mini swim team members. |
Every swimmer on our team gets them. My HS kids still love them |
I agree, that's awful. Our team gives one to every swimmer. Our swimmer coaches prepare the paper plate awards and have the roster to make sure they don't miss anyone. My oldest was a swimmer coach and the last week of swim he and the other coaches spent hours working on them. We have a team breakfast on Friday morning before Divisionals and that's when they are given out. Our high school team also gives them out. The senior swimmers gave them to the underclassmen and the juniors gave them to the seniors. My oldest was on the club swim team in college and they did paper plates as well. |
What is a paper plate award?? My DS swam in another state and I have never heard of this. |
