I use a number of things to try and keep it under control including an eyelid scrub, sometimes using a heated eye mask, eye drops - both Systane complete and an allergy eye drop. I’ve got plugs in my eyes. I’m finding my flare ups seem related to environmental conditions as well as some reactions to sunscreen and lotions. I have to abandon contact lenses for periods of time when I have a flare up. This all became an issue in perimenopause but I’d experienced some dry eye before that.
Thank you for this. I've never heard of blepharitis but it describes what's going on with me.
Did you see an ophthalmologist for treatment?
See an Ophthal. You may have dry eye syndrome (serious), blepharitis, meibomian gland dysfunction, etc. There are many dry eye problems. don't see an optician or optometrist. go to an Ophthal and preferably one that really understands dry eye
Same poster: You may also have this: Keratoconjunctivitis sicca is chronic, bilateral desiccation of the conjunctiva and cornea due to an inadequate tear film. Symptoms include itching, burning, irritation, and photophobia. Diagnosis is clinical; the Schirmer test may be helpful.. I use the eyedrops made out of my own blood four times a day. It has helped a lot.
