We are thinking of going June 2025, leaving as soon as school gets out on 6/13. But many of the travel blogs have me terrified of the crowds and thinking we can't go in summer under any circumstance.
Thoughts? |
| I did. It was ok. Go! |
| We did it, it was fine. But you need online reservations for almost everything. The only thing we didn't reserve online was the Eiffel tower because we took the steps to the viewing platform and you just get walk-up tickets for that. But some things the online reservations sell out very quickly for popular things (for example, the best morning museum times, Catacombs, Eiffel tower elevator ticket, so you need to research in advance when tickets are released). I don't think it gets crazy crowded until July. |
| My sister, her husband and their two little kids did. They seemed to have a great time. |
| I was just there. I hate crowds and it was quieter than usual and actually very pleasant. |
| I was there in very early June. It was fine but I would choose any other season (Fall being my favorite) in Paris |
Good to know. Thanks. |
| We just did this with our kids - left the day before school let out. We actually went to Spain first, then to France. It was a great time to go - hot in Paris, but not unbearable (mid to high 80s). You do have to get tickets to things; we were only there for 2 full days so we only did a couple ticket events (Saint Chapelle and catacombs), but otherwise just wandered around. |
| We were just there the first week of June for the French Open and the crowds weren’t bad but weren’t visiting the major landmarks as we’d seen them before. You just need to make reservations well in advance. |
Just coming back to add - the only thing that was oppressively crowded were the main Louvre galleries by the Mona Lisa. And you can get Eiffel tower walk up tickets on line but literally every single 15 increment time slot was available so it was nice to not have to time arrival for that. You can get the Paris Museum pass if you do a lot of museums but we only did the Louvre and the Musee D'Orsey so it wasn't worth it for us. Tip for the Louve: There was a 30 minute time slot for entry and we got there right before the end of the window. Everyone was standing by the glass triangle in long lines in the blazing son for the next entry. But when they saw our ticket time, they directed us to a different entrance where we waited 5 minutes in a shorter line under an archway so not in the heat. |

Was there June 20-24 - weather was amazing - low 70s.
Agree about booking things in advance. Otherwise, not crazy crowded in my opinion. Still very enjoyable - its Paris! |
| Was just there. It was fine. Though Versailles is never not crowded. Did the Eiffel Tower on a Sunday morning, waited 30 minutes to get tickets to the top, but that’s it. |
I just left and the weather was lovely, in the mid to high 70s. I did book everything in advance that we wanted to do, although some things were last minute so we ended up doing them in the late afternoon. Turns out that's a great time to visit places like the Louvre and Versailles because it's when the crowds are thinning out. |
That’s one of my travel maxims - go late, not early! |
Terrified!!
