What they are exploiting is 40+ years of complete lack of coherent immigration policy. And before you try to lay it all on the heads of "Democrats" it was YOUR people like Ronald Reagan who promoted turning a blind eye to migrants, not enforcing laws and so on. For example Reagan's 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) that gave amnesty to 3 million illegals. Or Bush's Guest Worker Programs Expansion (2000s–2010s) – Under George W. Bush, the H-2A visa program for agricultural workers expanded, providing legal pathways for migrant labor but with limited enforcement against visa overstays. This sudden GOP hysteria over illegals didn't happen until Trump. That's an absolute fact. So what does this tell us about the MAGAs and the hysterical anti-migrant posters here on DCUM? It tells me that either a.) they are uninformed and know absolutely nothing about their own side's history and policy and are completely talking out of their asses, just repeating whatever their cult leader says, or b.) they do know better but are here lying, being dishonest and disingenuous, are just trying to stoke outrage and falsely smear the other side, and are willfully trying to deceive the people who don't know better. Either way there is NO c.) "we were right, we've always been right, we've always been consistent and factual for the last 50 years." That said, spare us your self-righteousness, and if you are category a, maybe go away and try to do some reading and brush up on your history, if you are category b maybe go away and do some soul searching because you are truly not a good person. |
They committed visa fraud. This is well documented. ICE should be raiding their homes and shipping them off to black sites in Central America or some war zone in Africa like they are doing to harmless maids and farm workers. |
And to put it in context, so far in this fiscal year, per Trump's ICE's own data, 97.5% of the people they arrested, detained, deported, disappeared to black sites have ZERO prior arrest record or criminal conviction whatsoever. |
Citation for this claim. I have heard that 75% of those arrested HAVE criminal records. |
Yeah... I'm right. The most recent data shows that 3 out of 4 have criminal records. You need to stop making shit up. . https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/100-days-record-breaking-immigration-enforcement-us-interior |
I saw this too, but remember A LOT of these are for minor drug infractions years or decades ago. Or petty theft. That doesn’t mean those 75% who threaten safety or are violent, so you’re wrong on that count. Listen to the stories. |
Why would supporting deportations now necessarily mean that I supported the policies of Ronald Reagan, whose term in office ended before I was born? Policies and priorities shift over time. Things that weren’t as important 40 years ago can become more important to people over time. You have to know that. |
If you come to this country unlawfully (or arrive lawfully and overstay), you should probably scrupulously follow the criminal laws of this country. |
| It will be interesting to see if the National Guard and Marines will continue to scare away the agitators this weekend. Their presence seemed to lock things down. |
Most of the elected Republicans take money from corporate donors to pass their agenda, and support illegal immigration. |
Democrats are against deportations. |
