Um, despite what you might think, there are more than just white people on this site. I'm a 50 yo black woman who grew up listening to this music and attending many concerts. I remember distinctly when Biggie's first album came out, and I remember when he died and they drove his casket through the Brooklyn neighborhood where he grew up. The streets were filled with fans, many hanging out their apartment windows blasting his music, cheering, crying, etc. I'll never forget it.
