BREAKING...OK gov. signs a new abortion bill banning abortion beyond 6 weeks of pregnancy into law, which is modeled after the Texas rule and takes effect immediately.
Watch more dominoes fall.... They're not even waiting until the formal SC ruling. https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2022-05-03/oklahoma-governor-signs-texas-style-abortion-ban-into-law |
They’ve made themselves a political branch, and the right wing has set the standard for increasingly vile and violent treatment of elected officials. They should count themselves lucky if the protestors don’t storm their doors and sh*t on their desks. Socially, I think they’ll all be pretty much dead outside of their Opus Dei circles. |
States lost that privilege because of slavery. That’s the point of the 14th amendment. |
The Act Blue awareness campaigns plus craziness like this *might* get people to call their representatives and insist on the Federal Law to protect women/abortion. |
let's do this. let's redistrict each of the 50 state in the entire US in a totally non partisal manner. then let's vote. like in a real democracy. then each of us can live in a state where the decisions are made based on the majority's will. give 2 senators to DC, put together the Dakotas again so they get 2 senators instead of 4 (they were divided just for that reason after all), and then the entire US will live as the majoroty wants, as in a real democracy. the others can move to Russia, where they appear to be already very cmfortable. |
This! +1000. Either you support these women and the kids when you force them to have kids as noted above, allow for abortion, or have ALL of the people who are against abortion adopt ALL of these kids and raise them as their own. |
| I am so grateful my children are dual citizens holding EU passports. |
Abortion is heavily restricted in Europe. Your aim is to protect your grandchildren? |
Same here! But still losing my sh** about those who aren't so fortunate. |
Schumer already said the Senate is going to hold a vote on what the House passed in the fall. |

It will be interesting to see how this plays politically. I don’t see how it is positive for Rs. Might be neutral or might be really bad for them.
The Rs have successfully been using the potential to flip the court to overturn Roe to get out the base for decades. The Democrats haven’t been able to use it so effectively because Roe has been taken as a given by most voters. That is, if you were pro-choice, you could ignore the pro-life views of a republican you might vote for because he couldn’t act on them anyway. That will no longer be true. A vote for a republican will be a vote for abortion bans. |

Doctor writes of the harrowing discovery that an 11 year old patient was pregnant.
For today's GOP, it's the fetus inside her that was the more important entity. They would force girls like her to give birth. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/abortion-11-year-old-pregnant_n_6266e555e4b07c34e9e4cb27?utm_campaign=later-linkinbio-huffpost&utm_content=later-26564348&utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkin.bio&fbclid=IwAR1SKXK-6lcMF98-t85O9Bw_3K7KLsDdsdERFDoGZ5C0AEARZsq1oEU3ZII |
Heavily restricted yet strangely easily attainable. Hmm. Oh, did we mention European countries have paid maternity leave? And nationalized healthcare? |
