Why do neighbors never vacation together?

I don’t think I have ever heard anyone mention they are going on vacation with their neighbor(s).

I've vacationed with my neighbors many times. Beach, mountains, skiing. Good times.

I want neighbors we're friendly with--know their kids' names and year in school, recognize their dog, cars--who I can chat with at a block party, will keep an eye on our place when we're on vacation, someone DC could go to in an emergency, and vice versa.

When I'm in Home Mode, I prefer not being required to maintain a higher level of socialization.

Why would anyone vacation with neighbors?

My old street was an insular cult for a few years and vacationed together a lot. Some still do. I think for a few years there were like 20 kids on this one block.

I can barely tolerate vacationing with my own family why would I want to vacation with people who just happen to live nearby?

We do a few long weekends away with our neighbors. If you asked who we were going with, id say our friends Tyler and Ashley. I wouldn't specify that they are our neighbors

It's pretty lucky (and rare) if you happen to move in next to people who you like well enough to vacation together. We're cordial with ours, but not more than that.

My vacation is for my family. Why would I vacation with my neighbors?

My vacation is so that I can get away from everything here. I get a long with my neighbors - but why on earth would I want to get away with something that is permanently next door all the time?

My neighbors do.

We live in an adjacent neighborhood from our best friends - an entire family- and so I guess we vacation with our neighbors as we’ve taken trips together although technically they’re not in our subdivision.
