How long before you all saw improvement with laser hair removal? I'm getting it done on my chin and upper lip. I've gone twice now and have seen zero improvement. My skin is very pale with dark brown hair, so I think I'd be a good candidate. I did sign up for 6 appts.
I have a lot of stress this time of year and the stubble is driving me out of my mind. I'm ready to just go get a wax. I can't stand the feel of it and can't believe I have another 4 months of nonstop stubble. I'm shaving multiple times a day, but it's hell. I didn't even think I was a hairy person before this. |
| Sounds like you need medication for excess hair growth. Maybe get a CBP done by your primary Dr. |
| I saw about a 50% reduction after my first treatment and 75% after my 2nd. I went to a very high end laser center in northwest that is known for their laser hair removal expertise though. I have had friends that went to medspas and saw very slow or no real long-term results compared to mine. |
| It took about 4 treatments for my legs to be much improved. It was spotty, at best, before that. |
| It didn't work on me for that area. I did electrolysis. |
| Took me 5-6 treatments and still need touch ups every 6 months. |
Are you saying you started getting MORE growth after your laser appts? |
+1 NP |
| Electrolysis. Slow and uncomfortable, but very effective. |
| Also ask them to turn up the strength on the laser |
| are you going to a cosmetic derm office or a place like laseraway. places like laseraway and skinspirit are notorious for using very low settings and providing poor results |
| Yes, any recs of where to go. I want to do facial hair. Did it years ago and it was pretty helpful but have not gone in 10+ years. At that point, it was a derm's office. |
| OP -- I had very good results using a Tria at-home laser device for my upper lip. I would say it took 4-5 treatments (~10 days apart) before I started to see a reduction. I kept at it for ~6 months and then only sporadically over the next 2 years. Haven't touched up in ~3 years now and hair is still gone. I think laser just takes a while to work. I chose the home device over in-office treatments because I'm lazy and it was cheaper. |
Op here. I’m not getting more growth. But I could wax and only had to pluck stray hairs once a week. With shaving there’s stubble by the end of the day. Im going to a place like laseraway. I am positive there hasn’t been any reduction whatsoever yet. I did notice that last time the strength went up. Maybe they started me on a low strength. The hair still smelled singed. |
| The gal I went to for electrolysis used to tell me that lasers just add heat and spur more hair growth. I wasn't convinced. Laser on my underarms worked like a charm but it took 3-4 sessions to start seeing a big difference. That said, I think electrolysis for your face is much quicker and they can target the worst of it first. But the quality of the practitioner matters more than it does with the laser, I think. |
