| Considering spending some Kohls rewards on a little starter set of packing cubes for an upcoming vacation. Convince me I need them more than I need new bath towels! |
|
I'm an expert minimalist packer and cubes just add unwanted bulk.
However, lots of people swear by cubes. I'd go for the new towels
|
| I like them for organizing. All of undergarments in one, swim stuff in another, etc. For the undergarments I really like them -- I have an irrational fear of my suitcase breaking open and everything going everywhere. |
They facilitate living out of a suitcase by keeping similar things together and make it unnecessary to mess up the whole suitcase looking for particular items. Clothes stay neater and relatively wrinkle free, especially when you roll them. I love packing cubes. https://www.target.com/p/7pc-packing-cube-set-muddy-aqua-open-story-8482/-/A-86391412 |
| I like them to pack each kids clothes in one - so when we get there, I hand each kid a cube and we are basically unpacked in two seconds. I have three boys close in age so it’s hard to tell whose clothes are who’s at a glance. |
|
Have you ever felt like your current packing situation isn't working? If not, you don't need them.
I like them specifically for separating each kids' things, or for when there are multiple legs of a trip and I can just pull out one cube for that segment without disturbing everything else. I find it helps the kids stay more organized and independent for finding and repacking their own things. |
|
I use them a few ways:
-One color per kid. It makes it so nice to separate the kid clothes! It also means I can just put all of our clothes together in one bag. -One cube per day. I put all the kids' clothes for each day in a cube. Then if we're traveling from hotel to hotel, I only need to pull out the cube for that particular day. -For myself I like to put underwear, swimsuits and socks together I don't actually use them to compress anything at all. |
This. I was a skeptic, but last year when I had to dump our suitcase (one suitcase for 4 people) out on the bed in search of my kid’s underwear, I became a convert. |
|
I like them for bigger vacations with a full sized suitcase, to keep things organized by category. As the vacation progresses, one cube turns into the 'dirty clothes' cube.
I don't find them as helpful with a carry on sized bag. |
| I only recently started using them and am a convert now. So much easier to organize everything in my suitcase and I am a person who brings a carryon for a weeklong trip around Europe. They don’t add much bulk at all if you get the right kind. |
| I have a pile of them sitting unused for years. Never found them particularly helpful. Note that I'm a minimalist carry-on-only traveler. |
| I love them, but I think it depends on your travel style. I like having different items in different cubes, and different colors for each member of the family. |
| I unpack the cubes right into drawers if we are staying somewhere for more than a few days. Done in 30 seconds. |
| I agree that they add extra bulk. I also find it frustrating when the size of the cube doesn't work for what I'm trying to put in it. |
