Class started today with a review of the syllabus and it covers pretty much the same ground as Health A last year.
And that was a repeat of middle school health class. Which was a repeat of elementary health class. What a waste of time for everyone. |
| Are you sure you enrolled in health B? Wouldn’t health A typically be session one and health B session 2? |
| My son is also in Health B now. They offer it during both summer sessions. |
Ha ha, yes I’m not an idiot and neither is my kid. He took health A last summer and is taking health B this year, which is pretty common given that health B wasn’t available last summer. Do you have any experience with these classes? If you did you know that they cover almost the same ground. |
| Agree, Health A was a huge waste of time. We are doing Health B next session and not looking forward to it. At least do new material. |
Some did health A last summer, like us but they didn't offer health B online so we waiting till this summer and also to spread out the pain. |
Yes, even the teacher acknowledged it - look kids, a new unit on sleep! Thank G-d it is only 3 weeks |
|
That’s a shame. My 9th grade health class was only one semester, but we covered so many things MCPS doesn’t. I was really hoping Health B would pick up the slack.

|
My child says same topics as Health A, just new assignments.
Would be far more useful to have kids engage in a financial literacy or life skills course, even geography and current events. |
| Agreed! It’s a huge waste of time. Health A should be all that is required and they need to change it up from middle school. |
|
Hate the requirement too. Son is taking it in a few weeks-collossal waste of time.
You can thank the brain trust at MD Dept of Education for this who responded with the extra class due toCOVID mental health crisis. Obviously the way to fix mental health is to force a kid to take another non-optional class with dubious value. I would have rather they made yoga required instead. |
| Mine never complained that Health A and Health B were the same but he took them both this past school year as a sophomore. That’s not to say it wasn’t repetitive but he just never mentioned it at all. |
|
My kid is taking A and B this summer to get it out of the way.
I warned her it was repetitive. |
|
Yep. My rising junior took Health B last summer and Health A the summer before that. Waste of time.
I"m just sorry you had to pay for the waste of time that is Health B. I'm glad my DD did it last summer and it was free. |
The brain trust is so pompous, they will never admit having made a mistake. They should have a mental health choice menu, which would include Art, Music, Yoga like PP suggested, and a mindfulness/mental health focused Health B as different options a student could select to meet the requirement. |
