Who has done adventures by Disney? Any discounts you can suggest? I’ve heard they’re amazing hand worth the money!
We've done the Costa Rica trip. It was amazing and worth every cent. There's no deals outside of booking early and being a repeat Adventures by Disney customer.

Sometimes travel agents are able to get some discounts/perks. I work for a Disney focused agency and happy to help. maye@me.com

Why is it worth it, if you've been?

how much does it cost?

I looked at the itinerary for their Alaska trip and it seemed pretty lame. Definitely the kind of think you could very easily organize on your own. Heck, you could just read their itinerary online and just reproduce it yourself.
I think it's insane that people pay those prices to be part of a tour group.
It’s the easiest trip that I have ever been on! We did it when our kids were younger and we didn’t have time to plan everything.
Would you mind sharing what ages you took your kids? Debating taking our 5 year old, but worried too young. Thank you! |
Pp here- we went on a few and the kids were elementary aged. There are a lot of things to consider with time changes and activities. The days are really jammed packed and my youngest and I had to miss out on a few evening activities because she was so tired. Also, there are age requirements for certain trips. It’s really down to your child’s temperament.
We looked into a Europe itinerary but it was going to be super expensive. The biggest advantage I could see was that they organize transportation everywhere and haul your luggage.
It’s a high-end trip where you show up and do nothing. You get special access to everything, they know every detail and have special surprises planned throughout. We’ve done 3 from elementary to teen and enjoyed everyone. The benefit of the trip as well is that the kids have built-in friends with other kids there. Highly recommend. (And to pp - we did the Alaska trip and it definitely wasn’t lame. Iceberg floats with fire-grilled salmon picnic seaside? Hiking Denali with our kids? Eating at some hole in the wall pancake place all the hikers stop at that never would have known to go to? Amazing.) I can see however that it may not be for everyone. For us, they’ve been great.
has anyone travel with their kids being at the minimum age? like some trips are 5yo, some at 8yo. How has that gone? Were they able to make new friends? (or were all the other kids too old?). Also, was it easy to hang back and not participate if it "wasnt a good day" for your young child? There are some fantastic itineraries that we want to try...
I see the advantage of doing a tour for certain places (we did one for Alaska) but I think if you do some digging you can find locally owned tour companies that are cheaper and better. That is what we did for Alaska and it was amazing. For the price difference we had a private tour. (and you definitely do not need Disney to hike in Denali)

I have been on a few ABD with young children, and when my youngest acted up for whatever reason, I felt self conscious and embarrassed, but I always feel like that when my kids act up anywhere. So, it’s more about me.
It’s a group trip and you get to know the group and move through the activities with the group. That being said, when we skipped a few things, no one mentioned it, or made us feel bad. Although, I felt a little sad that we didn’t do everything. Overall though- the trips we have done on ABD have been our favorites with the kids. When it’s just me and my husband we prefer to plan on our own and skip group travel. |
