What dorm items did you buy that your freshman ended up not using or didn't get much use of?
Tnx! |
| Plates and bowls |
yea, my DC told me they didn't need it. I packed some paper plates for them, but I don't think they used them much. They hardly used the cleaning supplies - no surprise there. Honestly, they don't need that much, especially if they are staying in a dorm. You are better off getting a list of what they do need, rather than what they don't. |
| The extra set of sheets. |
This. Dd didn't use the extra set of sheets in 4 years. |
| Most of the cleaning supplies except for Clorox wipes. |
My DD used the second set. While she washed one set, other set was on bed. Said it made her life easier to have the 2 sets. |
| Plates, bowls and microwavable food. |
| coffee maker, cleaning supplies, door stop |
My DD had nice cooking facilities in the dorm and did a good bit of cooking so a plate, bowl, silverware were all used. |
This was supposed to be our plan too. And the way we do it at home. But my DD just washed the sheets, and put them back on at the end of the day. |

Space is tight, so don't get too much stuff. Just a few jackets and pairs of shoes, basic school supplies, a few food items. One maybe two pillows. Also a small fan, extra large towel that doubles as a robe, and Brita with filters. Don't go overboard on organizers, decorations etc.
