Does here anyone SAH but also have a nanny or helper to assist with the second or third kid? What is your HHI? |
I mean, rich people do this I’m sure. Where I live it’s not really something you see in the $300-400k HHI range. Most people do half day preschool starting at 2.5 or 3. |
Yes when you get a job you do |
I did, but she helped with one kid while the older one went to preschool a few times a week. The cost was not an issue for us. |
How much is your hhi/nw such that cost was not an issue? |
OP, it doesn’t really matter what WE think is reasonable. Your husband is the one you have to convince. Mine would have thought I was crazy to ask. |
I just had #5. We are getting a nanny for the summer. It’s cheaper than camp. |
Well, we make about 500k jointly and have a nanny (for childcare since we work.) so I imagine if my spouse was making that individually and I stayed at home with our kids, we would be able to afford a nanny. OP, it’s dependent upon many factors - primarily how much you earn and what your expenses are. |
I should have noted im a different poster |
I am a SAHM with one child and had a nanny from birth to K. HHI over 1m. |
If she’s SAH it’s more dependent upon if her husband thinks a SAH should need a nanny. |
My SIL (a SAH) had a nanny for the three kids -- then decided she would rather be with her kids and hired a daily housekeeper, a daily cleaning person and someone whose whole job was laundry (I think 2-3 times a week).
The kids are all in elem school. She didn't want to continue to manage the house and everything -- just enjoys her kids. Every one is happy. |
My cousin did this, and it was a stretch for them. She had high anxiety and just felt extremely overwhelmed. |
No, I prefer taking care of my own. |
I only had her 10 hours a week. It was enough for me to have doctor’s appointments, get haircuts, go to the gym, go grocery shopping alone (pre instacart days). I think it was $200 a week. Income was high, and a lot more than the $400k someone else mentioned. |
