For kids U15 and up, most of ECNL clubs only offer trainings and games for the fall and winter seasons, as kids will play high school soccer in the spring.
Shouldn't ECNL clubs lower the fee for older kids? Why clubs still charge the same fees as U13/14? |
Because they can? We all line up and pay for it. |
|
That's only VA. in MD soccer is a Fall sport. But yes, I agree.
|
| If ECNL clubs are truly trying to send kids to college soccer, they should NOT allow them to play high school soccer. There is close to zero exposure to college coaches during high school soccer season. |
It is the same for md, except we have winter and spring. |
| I’ve always wondered about this. My son plays in MD and plays winter and spring only due to HS soccer. And he has not played on ECNL teams but EDP. |
Does his club let you just pay and play for part of the year or are they expecting you pay for the entire year? |
| Are there any Travel clubs in the DMV that reduces the annual fee after the shortened High School years begins? |
Why do tournaments and showcases cost more as kids age up? |
My own kid's club had this rule and they chose high school then club said ok nevermind you can play with us too. |
You must be new to club soccer otherwise you would not have made this comment. |
| The fees are based on what people are willing to pay, more than what it actually costs. This is how it always works for luxury products. |
11 v 11 with 3 refs will always cost more do to space/ref limitations. |
| Only saying that a U15 boy/girl in a HS varsity team playing with/against boys/girls 3 years older than him/her, it is very helpful at U15. and you do not (normally) get from the club. |
| This is a good question, and I can tell you that the clubs wonder as well, but ECNL is raising fees instead. Passes are almost tripling in cost because of a new platform called Athlete 1 that they are requiring clubs to use. It promises digital cards (I suppose that is supposed to be thrilling?) and I'm not sure what else. They also imposed a new coaching education curriculum that the clubs have to pay for and the coaches have to go through before they can be carded to coach in the fall. Also not cheap. Clubs have pass those costs along to the players, unfortunately. |
