MAP opt out in HS

Would like to hear from anyone with a HS kid that opted out of MAP. How did you go about - email the principal? and How was the response? Thank you!

Why do you think there is such a thing as an "opt out" of MAP?

You know you're going to get an incredibly obnoxious and entitled justification of how MAP is a waste of her precious child's time and how it's unfair for it to be mandatory and how her special snowflake deserves to have the choice of not taking MAP exams.

There’s an easy form to fill out to opt out of map. Ask the school for it. There’s no need for high school map testing.

What do you while everyone else is taking the test?

Is it so burdensome to speed click the test and read a book?

Yes you don’t take the test and instead work on actual projects that are due.

I don’t think you can. It’s a diagnostic tool to help teachers see where your students has strengths and identify areas to improve upon.

Just don’t show up

Why would you want your high schooler to skip MAP? It’s a helpful diagnostic tool and your child stills needs to take Algebra, Bio-misa, government and English high school assessments too.

And most HS students know this, don’t care, and click thru as quick as possible to get done.

This is what all dc and friends started doing when they realized map tests meant nothing

Yup! This is what my kid did.

In the high school where I work, MAP is being used as an all-tasks grade. So opting out may hurt your child’s grade in the class.
