Govt agency. Independent Contributor. GS-14 equivalent. Ratings 4, 3.5. Bonus was <2%. Received an announcement of a new hire to my team and I was not asked to help interview them. Are they my replacement?
No PIP but I don’t think that’s required in my position. |
| How on earth would we know? |
|
Uh no. Are you supposed to manage this person? If you're going to be working with them closely, they might not want you to interview them due to potential for bias.
But you might be getting shuffled elsewhere or to another team. Always a possibility. But you'll know if you're getting fired or constructive dismissal. This doesn't sounds anything like that. Are you on anxiety meds? |
Not managing. New hire will be at my level. |
That's not how government works. They had to get approval for a new FTE to hire this person. |
OP is a govt contractor not an employee. |
No I’m an employee W2. |
|
Umm PIPs are definitely required to fire for performance.
Most managers don't have staff interview their future coworkers. It's awkward. |
Oh sorry, I read wrong and see now. Well PP is right that they don’t just double encumber a job. Have you posted about this before? |
This is insanity. Is this how you gov folks think? No wonder you don't get anything done. Yes, if there are team members being interviewed, have a few folks at the same level interview them for fit. And so the interviewee can ask candid questions. WTAF. |
Shut up. There are about 2 million federal employees. Obviously one dcum poster who may or may not even be a federal employee is not representative of the work force. But this point doesn't fit your narrative, does it? |
| Why are you asking the idiots on DCUM? |
