| Is that possible/allowed in MCPS ES? I heard some 3rd graders score 250+ in MAP-M can request that. No sure if it is true or not... |
| Why would anyone want to do that anyway? |
| I know someone who did this who is really a math genius. He attended AIM virtually in 5th and then started Algebra 1 in middle school. It is almost certainly school dependent, so check with your school, OP. |
This. The obsession with insane math acceleration in this county knows no end it seems. |
It's because our math curriculum is massively dumbed down versus other countries. It's not acceleration in a global context. |
|
It depends on your school.
Virtual Academy is going away. |
Let me know if you ever find facts supporting this claim. |
Some people enjoy learning math and don't enjoy private pay. |
| Why would you do this? I know it’s nice to be able to brag but if your kid really is that great at math they can follow normal accelerated sequence and go to SMCS magnet for HS. |

They can? Not everyone gets to smcs! Duh. |
| No one cares about bragging. Why do you need to know what level another kid is in? The math is embarrassingly dumbed down for highly able students. |
When DC was in 3rd and scored over 250 on their map-m I asked but was told that wasn't allowed at our school. |
You can skip any math class if you're at a WPES. |
| Allowed in Potomac area schools because "every" student is on the world standard math track. |
