They blame the teachers when the chomes are stolen because we are suppose to know what 35 kids are doing at all times. There is no excuse not to. It's hard to help students when you are reading something one eye needs to be reading and your other eye needs to be scanning the classroom for theft. Teachers need to be able to move each eye independently of the other like those rain forest lizards 🦎.

I think ours said $350 (payable senior year right before graduation). My senior tried to return 3 chromebooks she'd accumulated over the last 5 years (they kept issuing her cohort new ones) and they only wanted the most recent one. If your kid isn't a senior, it seems likely that they'll conclude that an older chromebook is obsolete before you actually need to pay for it...

If you don't pay it, nothing will happen. MCPS used to be very strict about clearing lost materials prior to graduation. They don't care any more. You would still be able to participate in all activities if you are an underclassmen or graduate if you are a senior.

Hi, it's OP. The school will not give this student any graduation tickets. He is independent, without parent support. Nobody at the school will respond to a request to waive the debt, which he doesn't have the money to pay at the moment. I'm very surprised how unhelpful the school administration has been.

I feel like I remember the number 276 being tossed around but that was a few years ago.

Thanks, I did see this but it’s for an ES. Is the policy the same for K-12? I can find nothing in writing.

Has he spoken with the parent liaison or equivalent?

Do you mean PTA? No. I can try to contact them. I don’t understand how there is no county wide written policy.

It seems to be school specific. I see lots of different numbers on different mcps school sites.

Yes they were! DS' elementary school billed us at year end for writing in four of the the Highlights booklets during K...and made a huge deal about it following him.
