At an bbq this weekend there was a hot debate on which veggie burgers were the best. I have BBQ coming up in a few weeks and hoping to crowdsource this a little more.
TIA |

There are two broad categories—ones that resemble meat and ones that don’t. There are obviously exceptions, but many long time vegetarians don’t like the ones that resemble meat, and those appeal more to people newly experimenting with eating less meat.
I’m in the long time vegetarian category so prefer homemade bean burgers or Hillary’s brand if I need store bought. My kids like both Beyond and Impossible equally. My carnivore spouse prefers Impossible. |
| I don't' get the concept though. Why not just each vegetables? Why make vegetables pretend to be meat? |
| Thank you! I think we will have both categories for our BBQ. Personally, I like the bean burgers best but don’t yet have a favorite brand. |
Because sometimes it’s convenient to eat something you can hold in your hand, and some people like the crispy exterior/soft interior and some people like a vehicle for yummy condiments. Variety is nice! |

I like Morningstar Farms spicy black bean.
I also like Pioneer Woman's black bean burger recipe (hard to grill though, better to pan fry). I'd probably have a box of Morningstar bbs and some Impossible patties: people like different things. |

I’m a carnivore and I live a good veggie burger! I don’t eat the impossible stuff but I often get veggie burger where the meat burgers are likely going to be not great. I ate them all through college at the dining hall.
I like the Trader Joe’s ones a lot. Do they still sell the Thai Sweet Chili one? That was really good. |
| I like gardenburger but haven’t been able to find it anywhere recently. Morningstar farms is ok too. |
| -^^oh I meant to add, I don’t like the ones pretending to be meat. I like the ones that look and taste like a veggie burger. |
| The best is a grilled portobello mushroom. |
| I like Boca All American and I suppose they would work best for a crowd because they're yummy but fairly basic: no bits of vegetables and beans or weird flavors and no fake blood pretending to be meat. Most likely to be eaten by vegetarians and non, unless allergic to soy, and goes well with condiments. |
I like those spicy black bean burgers too. They are good for a quick meal. |
| I like the veggie burger at elevation burger pretty tasty. |
|
Another fan of Boca All American.
I also like Gardein brand but it’s in fewer stores. |
+1 lifelong vegetarian and same - the ones that look and taste like meat, no thanks. i like the ones that are clearly a veggie burger. though i LOVE fake chicken. morningstar farms chicken patties are delicious. and whenever i'm at a restaurant that does a good fake chicken, i'm so happy. |
