When would you workout?

I’ve been doing an outdoor training workout on weekends, but I’m struggling with what I feel is losing those “lazy” weekend mornings, especially in the warmer months where I really enjoy quietly sitting on my deck with coffee and a book. I also like sleeping in on weekends until 8, this I’m not budging on.

But to my question! I’m trying to fit in my 1.5 hour long workout, plus this “lazy” time, into the 8-12pm hours.

I’ve been getting up at 8, being lazy until 10:30, then working out. I’m thinking I should be getting up at 8 and working out immediately, then being lazy from 9:30-12, but that feels less indulgent somehow. Either way I have to be done working out before noon because it gets too hot.

So I’m leaving it to you all to give me the pros cons and tell me what you’d do!

Honestly, as a runner, the only way to do the outdoor exercise in the summer is to just get up and get it over with, first thing. Then I shower and have a leisurely breakfast and maybe a nap. A nap is the greatest thing in the world if you've already exercised because you've totally earned it. Or you can do the workout plus some chores and have a super lazy afternoon when your energy dips naturally anyway.

How relaxing it must be to be childless…

My teens and tweens are out the door before 7:30. Aren’t yours?

This has to be a troll post.

I really like sinking into the couch after exercise. If I do it before exercising, I get restless 😬. So if it were me, I'd go workout around 9 or 9:30, after some nice coffee and breakfast.

I'm in the same boat OP, though I naturally wake up earlier.

I tend to get up around 7:00, laze about until 8:30 and then start my workout. It really doesn't make a difference the order. Great for you for creating a weekend morning that combines rest and exercise!

For me, I have to exercise first thing or I feel much less motivated and it doesn't happen. So I vote get it done and then laze around.

On weekends? I mean occasionally, but not often. We're not a club sports family, though, so YMMV. OP, I too like a lazy weekend morning. I try to alternate my "active" morning weekends with "lazy" morning weekends. It gives me something to look forward to...

+1 and I'm not a runner. It's hard but once I'm actually in it, I'm glad, and then I feel so good afterwards.

I actually think it's easier to relax after I've gotten the workout over with. There's nothing hanging over my head to disrupt my relaxation, plus my body is never more relaxed than after a vigorous workout and a shower.

This. Lounging after you know you’ve gotten the workout in first thing is the best! I already ran and lifted and am now lounging on my porch w a book and a nice breeze.

What do they do? Genuinely curious. I have littles now but when I was 11-12, I wasn’t out so early
