It used to be log into ParentVUE in a browser, go to parent resources, and open up MCPS Classroom. It no longer works. It gets to an icon to click on but nothing happens. Is there anywhere parents can still go to see teacher comments, grade distributions for a class, etc.? |
It still works for me the way you described if I do it from a computer, but it does not work for me from a phone or iPad now. |
I can get into it on a computer at the bottom on the parentvue home screen there is a area to click to take you to McPS classroom which is canvas. |
NP, but it doesn’t work on my phone, either. Just reloads the same page. I had a similar issue with summer school registration. Had to switch to a computer to get the link to work. |
I found pop ups were blocked on my phone, so finding a setting to change that, or using Chrome where it asked me if I wanted to allow the pop up, let it work. |
Works the same for me. |
If you have safari, with pop up windows clicked block, a small icon will appear in the thing at the top where the URL is. It's a sign that a pop up window was blocked. If you click on that, the blocked window will open and you will see canvas |
There is a Canvas app for parents you can download, but I’m not sure if that still works. I usually just login with my kid’s credentials. Easier than trying to figure out how to do it from my account. |
When stuff like this happens, try one or all of these things:
1. Power down the device, then power on again. 2. Update browser. 3. Use a different browser. 4. Check to see if your pop-ups are blocked and unblock them. |
Grade distributions for the class? I’ve never seen this. |
Is your kid in HS? Perhaps each school sets their Canvas sight up differently, but for ours, IF the teacher records the grades in Canvas/MY MCPS classroom, you can go to the grade table for a particular class, and click on details, and it will show you the median and mean grade for each assignment, as well as the top quartile and the lowest quartile. No clue if it's possible for teachers to turn it off or not, and some don't record certain tests in Canvas. It is helpful information to have, especially to give you perspective on whether a particular assignment or class is particularly challenging, or at least graded that way. |
It was there in the past too but was never obvious. |
What is the actual link? I access ParentVue through the app on my phone. |
