It seems like there has been a ton of waitlist movement at selective schools this year. Any ideas as to why more than usual?
Some people say because of the FAFSA debacle, but I don’t think the highly selective schools rely on FAFSA to make their FA determinations. Maybe the protests turning people off? Increased costs? Wondering if this is a one-off or a new trend. |
| No one knows until the cds comes out next fall. |
| It just seems like people want there to be more than usual and hope there will be more than usual. Not a ton of "change of plans" posts in reality. Maybe the waitlist movement has been more downstream than people would like. As PP said, it's only when the CDS comes out next year will we really know. |

My DC got off it. So it's moving. |
| I’ve seen only one person switch at either of the private schools my kids attend, and that was to Columbia. Obviously don’t know about kids who aren’t switching. |
| I think it seems normal but there's just been more chatter about it, which makes it seem like there's more. |
| Anything now is based on anecdotes and individual experiences. You’ll need to wait for the official data to come out to know whether there was an actual trend or difference compared to prior years. |
Yeah, it's the first year Emory's been full in May for a while. |
| Michigan has started to move |
Exactly. Super interesting… meanwhile, schools ranked much higher are actively working WL… |
Yes. Heard about 3 today. |

In a FB group—many were waiting to hear back re: merit before making a decision. They see the final price tag and decide it’s not worth the expense. Maybe it means people are
Coming to their senses about college debt. DCUM is unique in that many if not most parents are able to pay full tuition. |
