Naviance class rank with Inspect Element

Hi DCUM parents! My kid was poking around on Naviance because he wanted to know his class rank but the school does not publish it. Well, we found it and I wanted to share it here in case you want to know what your kid's rank is. Once you log in and navigate to the About Me page where GPA is displayed, open Inspect Element and click the Network tab at the top. Then reload the page. Press Ctrl + F on your keyboard and type in the GPA displayed on the page. A bunch of files on the lefthand side titled "me" will pop up. If you hover over the second one in the last me category, you should see a complicated JSON object. Ignore the formatting and look at the last line. It should look something like this: {"defaultGpaType":"weighted_gpa","rank":2,"decile":1,"classSize":200,"gpaRank":0,"usableGpas":0. The number next to rank is your child's rank in the class. Can you explain what this means "open Inspect Element and click the Network tab at the top"

Is the inspect element part of Naviance, or a browser function?

It is a browser function. You can access it with Ctrl+Shift+I or click the three vertical dots at the top of your screen > More tools > Developer tools.

For our MS child it did not populate. The GPA and Class Size data was also not present.

Yes, the same script appeared, but since class size and rank weren't available, they were blank.

When I typed the GPA in the network search bar, there were no results. To get to the page with DD’s GPA I had to go to My Account under About Me.
