Naviance hack

DS just texted me that TJ kids hacked into Naviance and now kids can see class rank. We're at a different FCPS HS. He provided me his rank.

OP here. IDK what this means but his most recent message, "you insert a script of code into the inspector panel of google that has a box pop up on the screen with your gpa and class rank".

That might not necessarily be hacking - I'll go look in a minute. But it is amazing what you can see when using Inspector. I'm a website developer. Could just be hidden in the code so that it only shows to people with certain access...but not hidden well enough. Either a good hacker or really crappy developer.

FCPS schools don't rank but perhaps it's simply an "ordering" of GPA's at a particular school?

It's not hacking, it's terrible coding and security. The same thing happened to a Missouri state website and the governor screamed hacking https://missouriindependent.com/2022/02/23/claim-that-reporter-hacked-state-website-was-debunked-parson-still-says-hes-a-criminal/

Whether it is released or not, colleges evaluate applicants relative to others in their school. It would be helpful to know if you are number 10 or 200. It could help set expectations and guide your college list.
